Discover ECSO’s first ever European community of CISOs

We are proud to announce that we have launched the operations of the first European Community of Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs), gathering security leaders from European countries to cooperate on the most pressing cybersecurity topics in a trusted, secure and time-sensitive way. ECSO’s CISOs European Community (CEC) is now open for membership requests from European CISOs.

Following a trial period, ECSO is now ready to welcome more CISOs from across Europe in its dedicated chat group run on Signal, while preparing for a migration to a more structured Community platform that will enable sector-specific discussions on sensitive issues and threat information sharing.

In its trial phase, the community has already welcomed 173 CISOs from 26 European countries. The CEC is the first attempt in Europe to create a community of CISOs across sectors and countries. So far, CISO Communities have either been limited to nations and regions, or to a specific vertical application area. With the CEC, ECSO is adopting a broad approach by hosting CISOs from both the public and private sector and ranging from SMEs to large companies.

“Our goal as ECSO is to bring together a community of European CISOs, build trust among peers, share information on cybersecurity and learn from one another, in a safe and above all trusted environment”, says ECSO Secretary General Luigi Rebuffi. “The rapid growth of CISOs adhering to this initiative shows us the importance for such a tool, which allows them to exchange lessons learned and best practices, share information on operational issues, develop positions and link with the European institutions, through regular networking and meetings on specific issues”, he adds.

In addition, the CEC allows its Members to share lessons learned and other operational information through an instant messaging platform, receive daily briefings on the latest and most pressing cybersecurity news and vulnerabilities, facilitate the interaction with European Institutions on policy and legislative priorities (e.g., NIS 2), and have access to monthly presentations and webinars held by peers.

“ECSO’s CISOs European Community is unique, as it is the only one hosted by an independent non-profit organisation which is a privileged partner of the European Commission in developing the European Cybersecurity Ecosystem. Developing a dialogue among CISOs coming from different sectors and countries will allow an easier cooperation with the European and national public bodies in charge of the cyber threat response.”, concludes Luigi Rebuffi.
