ECSO's Annual CISO Meetup

We open the Third Edition of ECSO’s Annual CISO Meetup today in Vienna

BRUSSELS, 4 November 2024 – The European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO) is pleased to announce the Third Edition of its Annual CISO Meetup, taking place in Vienna on 4 & 5 November. Around 200 Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) from 26 European nations are participating, marking a significant milestone for collaboration and information sharing among CISOs in Europe. This flagship event offers a strategic yet relaxed environment for cybersecurity leaders to connect and gain insights into the evolving cybersecurity landscape. Attendees will engage in discussions on critical topics through a rich programme of real-life case studies, roundtable discussions, and keynote presentations.

Today marks the start of the 2024 Edition of ECSO’s Annual CISO Meetup in Vienna, where ECSO gathers the European CISO Community to explore critical cybersecurity issues. This event provides a unique platform for CISOs and security experts from various sectors to share real-world case studies, engage in targeted roundtable discussions, and discover innovative cybersecurity solutions over the next two days.

As cyber threats and attacks grow increasingly sophisticated, ECSO recognises the need for cross-border CISO collaboration. This meetup fosters essential partnerships to strengthen Europe’s digital resilience, facilitating the exchange of threat intelligence, best practices, and shared perspectives on key challenges. Through ongoing high-level discussions, ECSO unites CISOs from diverse backgrounds to build a coordinated cybersecurity front across Europe.

Axel Deininger, Chairperson of ECSO, and Luigi Rebuffi, Secretary General of ECSO, will open the 2024 Meetup, followed by an introduction on “Austrian Cybersecurity Landscape Before and After NIS2” by Wolfgang Rosenkranz, Teamlead at CERT.at. This session will set the stage for broader discussions, including “National/Regional CISO Communities: How to Move Towards a Pan-European Movement?” emphasising ECSO’s mission to bridge cybersecurity efforts across borders.

“CISOs nowadays are faced with multiple challenges such as digital transformation, evolving cyber regulations or cloud security concerns. The Annual CISO Meetup gives them an opportunity to foster collaboration and articulate their needs and perspectives. By building partnerships with national CISO communities and associations under the ECSO umbrella, this synergy helps to strengthen the European cybersecurity community.” Stated Axel Deininger, Chairperson of ECSO.

Today marks the opening of the Third Edition of our flagship event, ECSO’s Annual CISO Meetup. We are gathering again this year some of Europe’s most influential experts who are shaping cybersecurity needs and solutions for their organisations. Their contributions are vital for the resilience of our society and economy. This event reflects our commitment to collaboratively tackle pressing challenges alongside innovators and leading vendors. ECSO is proud to host this event annually, supported by our trusted members and partners, who are essential to our mission of fostering a more secure digital future in Europe.” Said Luigi Rebuffi, ECSO’s Secretary General.

ECSO’s Annual CISO Meetup has come to realisation, once again this year, thanks to valued sponsors: BitsightExcaliburISC2, KnowBe4; EGERIEHoxhunt, KovrrBoard of CyberLabyrinth Security Solutions, SensorFuBfore.AICyberwolfEquixlyONEKEYSecDojoYesWeHack.

These cybersecurity partners have come together to support ECSO’s mission by providing their unique expertise on the complexities of the European cybersecurity landscape. In addition to panel discussions on EU cybersecurity policies, NIS2 implementation, software supply chains, and cybersecurity purchase decisions, sponsors will facilitate deep dives into cutting-edge European solutions available in the market.

As a trusted partner of the European Commission in developing the European Cybersecurity Ecosystem, ECSO hosts the first and only cross-sector, cross-country CISO Community: ECSO’s CISO Community. With over 550 cybersecurity experts as members, this forum is now the largest in Europe, enabling the exchange of information, sharing of best practices, and threat intelligence.

ECSO is confident that, over the next two days, Vienna will be a stronghold for dynamic and high-level cybersecurity discussions among CISOs, enriching the European CISO Community and contributing to the future of Europe’s security.
