New book celebrates women in cybersecurity: “Hacking gender barriers” is now available

This new publication written by the Women4Cyber Foundation gives voice to over 100 untold stories from women working in cybersecurity and aims at inspiring more female (but also male) professionals to take up a career in one of today’s most requested professional fields.

Inspire and acknowledge: this is the goal of the newly-released book by Women4Cyber, a non-profit European private foundation launched in 2019 by ECSO with the objective to promote, encourage and support the participation of women in the field of cybersecurity.

“Three years after taking the first steps, I am truly inspired by the exponential growth of the Women4Cyber Foundation, and this book is just the tip of the iceberg”, said Anett Mádi-Nátor, President of the Women4Cyber Foundation. “I am proud to see that such a huge amount of real experience on a topic as sensitive as cybersecurity from a gender has finally been put into words with this book. I truly hope that “Hacking gender barriers” can encourage women to choose a career in cybersecurity and at the same time give more visibility to the ones who are already contributing to this exciting and growing sector”, she concluded.

“Hacking gender barriers” marks the beginning of a long, yet not impossible journey of cybersecurity gender inclusion. This book definitely sparks the reader’s curiosity with a wide variety of stories and experiences, and is definitely a must read! But change doesn’t come easily, which is why we need everyone’s help in filling the gender gap, particularly in this domain”, said Luigi Rebuffi, Secretary-General of the Women4Cyber Foundation and ECSO.

The more digital technologies shape today’s world, the more cybersecurity experts and workers will be needed. With this book and many other initiatives, the Women4Cyber Foundation contributes to meeting this growing demand whilst filling the gender gap.

“Hacking gender barriers” is now available on the Women4Cyber website, here.
