Cybersecurity@CEPS SUMMIT 2023

The annual Cybersecurity@CEPS SUMMIT is returning for its latest edition, taking place in Brussels, Belgium, on 6 December 2023 09:00 – 17:00 CET.

ECSO is pleased to announce that ECSO’s Secretary General Luigi Rebuffi will be participating in this important summit as a speaker.

The EU has frequently asserted its important role in global regulation. In fact, the legal traditions of the EU continue to shape the legal systems of other nations, a phenomenon which has been termed the “Brussels Effect”. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), for example, has been imitated in many countries worldwide since it went into effect in 2018.

Since the GDRP, the EU has proposed a plethora of legislative and non-legislative cyber initiatives, including the NIS2 Directive, the Cybersecurity Act, and the Cyber Resilience Act. However, problems have come up in the implementation and enforcement of such initiatives.

Therefore, with its topic “Cybersecurity in the European Union: going beyond the Brussels Effect”, this year’s Cybersecurity@CEPS SUMMIT will explore how the challenges that come with transitioning from cyber policy initiatives to concrete action can be overcome. This includes diving deep into the levels of coherence and consistency among the different legislations, compliance measures, and how international standards and regulatory cooperation with other countries can be promoted. As such, attendees can therefore expect insightful discussions, knowledge-sharing by experts, and plenty of networking opportunities.
