ECSO launches the NIS2 Directive Transposition Tracker

The European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO) is pleased to announce the release of the NIS2 Directive Transposition Tracker, a dedicated resource offering a streamlined and comprehensive overview of the Directive’s transposition across EU Member States.

The NIS2 Directive represents a significant step in strengthening cybersecurity across Europe. However, its implementation varies by country, making it essential  to have clear and up-to-date information on its transposition. ECSO’s NIS2 Directive Transposition Tracker provides an accessible and structured resource to navigate these developments effectively.

Mapping the NIS2 landscape across Europe

The tracker compiles data gathered from primary and secondary sources, including Official Journals of Member States, EU databases, publicly available articles, and expert insights.

In addition to mapping the transposition status across Member States, the tracker includes ECSO’s latest analysis of the current regulatory landscape and a list of national registration platforms, offering a clearer understanding of evolving requirements.

Organised into dedicated sections for each country, the Tracker covers key aspects such as:

  • Sectoral scope
  • Applicable standards
  • Registration processes
  • Sanctions
  • Competent authorities
  • Implementation deadlines

By highlighting similarities and differences in national approaches, this tool supports organisations, policymakers, and cybersecurity professionals in understanding the evolving regulatory landscape.

Who's behind the NIS2 Tracker?

This initiative is powered by the ECSO Policy Analysis & Outreach Stream, with invaluable contributions from ECSO’s partners and the ECSO CISO Community. Their expertise and verification efforts have been instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and comprehensiveness of this resource.

About the ECSO Policy Analysis and Outreach Stream

The ECSO Policy Analysis and Outreach Stream delivers in-depth policy analysis to ECSO Members, helping them decode and act upon key European cybersecurity developments. The initiative involves close collaboration with EU policymakers and the integration of insights from both public and private sectors. By engaging with European and international stakeholders, it promotes meaningful dialogue for a structured, dynamic European cybersecurity landscape.

About the ECSO CISO Community

The ECSO CISO Community hosts Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and other cybersecurity experts working closely with CISOs*, from all across Europe and sectors. Its objective is to promote the exchange of information, good practices, threat intelligence, and to develop common positions of cybersecurity practitioners. To achieve this, the ECSO CISO Community provides regular discussions on topics of general interest to CISOs with a variety of backgrounds and experience levels.
