STARtup Award final competition 2021: Meet finalist Keyless

Join us in The Hague in the 5th and 6th of April 2022

ECSO, Security Delta (HSD)InnovationQuarterThe Hague Convention Bureau and TIIN Capital B.V are excited to present Keyless, one of the ten finalists in the European Cybersecurity STARtup Award 2021 Final competition. With only three weeks away from the final competition, we asked Keyless a few questions, to get to know them a little better.

What cybersecurity values does your business bring forward?

At Keyless, we believe building better customer experiences is like any other relationship – you need a strong foundation of trust. In the digital age, this is difficult to achieve. The values that we bring forward to help businesses build trust are privacy, user-experience and security. We believe private-by-design architectures and zero-trust security models, combined with intuitive authentication modalities can help businesses to rebuild trust with their end-users.

  • Privacy-by-Design (Privacy): At Keyless our most important value is privacy. We believe that maintaining privacy in the digital world is vital to ensuring security and – with new privacy regulations modelled on the EU’s GDPR – business continuity and success. As a software provider specialising in biometric authentication and identity, protecting personally identifiable information – namely biometric data – is critical to us.
  • Convenience (Frictionless UX): We recognise that in order to build trust with users, it’s important to make security experiences intuitive. If security procedures get too complicated, studies prove that users will often opt out altogether (if they’re able to) or will ignore guidance (recycling old or weak passwords and PINs).  If security measures seem overkill, the added friction can also unintentionally drive business away from your platform or service, threatening your bottom line, ratings and reputation. So, for these reasons, providing convenient and intuitive user-experiences is one of our core values.
  •  Zero-trust design (Security): Zero-trust security architectures are key to adapting to increasingly remote and hybrid environments. Zero-trust models can effectively reduce the impact and breadth of security breaches in both cloud and on-premises environments as it can help stop an attack in its tracks – protecting your most critical systems, assets and data from further threats. Zero-trust models used to be associated with unacceptable levels of friction, but new, intuitive authentication modalities are enabling friction-free zero-trust journeys – as such we think all businesses should be driving forward zero-trust models.
