Montenegro Ministry of Public Administration joins ECSO

The European Cybersecurity Organisation (ECSO) ha recently welcomed a delegation from Montenegro’s Ministry of Public Administration to our Brussels office to mark their official admission to ECSO Membership. This milestone further strengthens our collaboration with public authorities, including those beyond the EU, as we continue to foster cybersecurity resilience in the Western Balkans

The delegation included key figures in Montenegro’s cybersecurity landscape, led by Dušan Polović, Director General of the Directorate for Infrastructure, Information Security, Digitalisation, and e-Services, alongside national CSIRT leads and a representative from DCAF, an NGO supporting the Ministry in implementing EU cybersecurity regulations.

Meeting highlights

During the meeting, ECSO presented its working groups and initiatives, highlighting opportunities for the Ministry’s active participation. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral collaboration, with a shared commitment to advancing cybersecurity policies, knowledge exchange, and best practices.

A key topic of discussion was the implementation of NIS2, as Montenegro adopted its national iteration of the directive in November 2024. Both parties exchanged insights on regulatory alignment and practical approaches to strengthening cybersecurity frameworks in the region.

This engagement lays the foundation for an expanded partnership, reinforcing ECSO’s role in driving cybersecurity cooperation across Europe and with key partners in the Western Balkans. We look forward to working closely with the Ministry of Public Administration to support Montenegro’s cybersecurity development and broader European cybersecurity objective.
