ECSO and the Women4Cyber Foundation have joined forces to also give recognition to the cybersecurity companies founded or co-founded by women and/or to the companies with at least 50% female employees. The winner of the Women4Cyber STARtup Award will be selected by the jury of the ECSO Cyber Investor Days and the European Cybersecurity STARtup Award and given to the female-led company at the final of the European Cybersecurity STARTup Award.

ECSO’s European Cybersecurity STARtup Award aims to increase the awareness and visibility of state-of-the-art cybersecurity companies in Europe, both at European and global level. The Award leverages ECSO’s Cyber Investor Days, a well-established cybersecurity business matchmaking event, and similar events organised by ECSO’s partner organisations to create an initiative recognising the most promising European cybersecurity startups and SMEs.

The panel discussion: “Investment and internationalisation challenges for European cybersecurity start-ups”

Lack of financial capital, a limited number of specialised investors, market fragmentation and discrepancies resulting from certain internationalisation strategies are just some of the key challenges affecting Europe’s cybersecurity market and hindering its global competitiveness. The joint European Tech Champions Initiative (ETCI) aiming to support Europe’s high-tech companies in their late-stage investment rounds was launched earlier this year. While the development of the whole tech industry is key, a special emphasis should be given to cybersecurity, because of its overarching, horizontal nature. ECSO has been working in conjunction with major private investors and the European Commission to create a cybersecurity investment platform to urgently address the funding gap in the European cybersecurity sector.

This panel discussion organised by ECSO will gather the leading European investors, founders and policy makers to share their insights and suggestions on how to overcome the existing barriers and facilitate the growth of a strong and competitive European cybersecurity industry.
